The Division of Pediatrics currently has a faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor, Term Tenure Track for a MD/MPH, or PhD interested in conducting research related to pediatric oncology and/or survivorship.  This faculty member should have expertise in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Outcomes research, cancer prevention, health care delivery, or behavioral interventions.
  • Translational research designed to reduce incidence of secondary cancers, morbidity/late effects and mortality in a pediatric cancer patient/survivor population.   Multifaceted cancer prevention or interventional approaches on the local, national and international levels will be prioritized.
  • Interventions to reduce health risk behaviors (tobacco, alcohol, and obesity), survivorship outcomes, AYA health care delivery, genetic epidemiology of childhood cancer and cancer risk.

MD Anderson provides unusually rich opportunities for multidisciplinary research in both clinical and community-based settings. The individual would interact with the clinical patient-care and laboratory-based research faculty of Division of Pediatrics and the Childhood Cancer Survivor Program.  In addition, multiple opportunities for collaboration are available with the Division of Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences including the five departments: Behavioral Science, Clinical Cancer Prevention, Epidemiology, Health Disparities Research and Health Services Research. Additionally, the Center for Energy Balance in Cancer Prevention and Survivorship facilitates and conduct state-of-the-science research to understand the relationships between physical activity, nutrition, obesity, and cancer, and uses this knowledge to optimize interventions to decrease cancer risk and improve cancer outcomes.  Many of these interests are related to laboratory research that is ongoing in Pediatrics.  Opportunities for interacting with our Li-Fraumeni cancer screening program and the national Childhood Cancer Survivor Study (CCSS) also are available in collaboration with the Genetics Department.

Organizational Relationship

This faculty level position reports to the Division Head of Pediatrics.
