Job Description

We offer a post doctorial scientist position to support our research group of Biobased Materials for Medical Use at the Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Biobased Materials (AMIBM). The research group investigates current and novel biomaterials with regard to their use in medicine: how to improve the material properties, how to integrate them into medical products and how to process the materials within a medical production process (GMP-conform). A specific focus is on the production of fibre materials, fibre coatings and textile-reinforced implants.

The research group is strongly linked to the Dept. of Biohybrid & Medical Textiles (BioTex) at the Institut für Textiltechnik (ITA) and the AME-Helmholtz Institute for Biomedical Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University. The candidate will be responsible for the development of the research group on Chemelot campus. This includes a specific responsibility with regard to the scientific content, the human resource development and the 2nd and 3rd party funding. Candidates, who want to develop their own research profile in the field of biobased materials for medical use further, are expressively welcome.

You will be appointed to the Aachen-Maastricht-Institute for Biobased Materials, which is part of the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences. You will operate from the Brightlands Chemelot Campus laboratories situated at Europe’s second biggest industrial chemical site, where UM is closely interconnected with surrounding industries.
