The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW) Clinical School and the Discipline of Paediatrics and Child Health is engaged in a wide range of clinical, laboratory and population based research relevant to child and adolescent health, supervision of postgraduate research students, the teaching of medical students and postgraduate coursework students, curriculum development and implementation, assessment, evaluation and staff development.

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics and Child Health. You will engage in research in collaboration with other researchers and groups within the CHW Clinical School, the University and Westmead Precinct, and demonstrate potential to be a research leader in your chosen field with an international profile. You will also contribute to face-to-face teaching and assessment of medical students, and to the teaching of postgraduate coursework students. You will have an appointment as a Clinical Academic at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and will contribute to the clinical care of inpatients and outpatients.

To succeed in securing this role you will have:

  • a PhD or equivalent in a relevant area
  • demonstrated successful research record with evidence of an upward trajectory in research performance
  • an MBBS, or equivalent, and FRACP or other specialist recognition as provided for under the Health Insurance Act 1973
  • an ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds
  • experience in the supervision of research students and experience in teaching medical students
  • highly developed organisational skills, project management skills, interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills and computer literacy.


Preference will be given to applicants with research expertise in one or more of the following areas: genomics, “big data” management. However, people with expertise in other areas of paediatric research are strongly encouraged to apply.
