Community Living Center Medical Director

The Minneapolis VA Health Care System is seeking a BE/BC physician to lead our 104 bed transitional care community living center.

Our Community Living Center is an active program with most Veterans discharging back to their homes and a <30-day length of stay on average.  The program is accredited under JCAHO Long Term Care Standards and VA Long Term Care Survey Standards.

Expectations of the Medical Director include supervising physician and nurse practitioner staff, and leading all program efforts in conjunction with a Nursing Co-Director.  The successful candidate will have leadership and management skills as well as an expert working knowledge of long-term care practice.

Depending on the successful candidate's qualifications, an opportunity also exists to lead the entire Geriatrics Medical Practice.  This would include managing physicians in the Community Living Center, Geriatric Primary Care Clinic, Home Care and Hospice Programs. 

The Minneapolis VA is a large tertiary care center affiliated with the University of Minnesota.  There are many opportunities for involvement with students, residents and fellows and for physician education.  There is also opportunity to participate in and develop research in conjunction with our GRECC program.  The Minneapolis VA is experiencing significant growth in geriatric care; this position is an opportunity to lead an expanding and evolving practice.
