Kenilworth, N.J., U.S.A. known as Merck in the United States and Canada, is a global health care leader with a diversified portfolio of prescription medicines, vaccines and animal health products. Today, we are building a new kind of healthcare company – one that is ready to help create a healthier future for all of us.

Our ability to excel depends on the integrity, knowledge, imagination, skill, diversity and teamwork of an individual like you. To this end, we strive to create an environment of mutual respect, encouragement and teamwork. We are seeking an experienced leader who:

- Is an excellent communicator that practices and promotes high ethical standards and integrity, makes rapid and disciplined decisions and has an outstanding track record of driving results, fostering collaboration and building talent.

- Promotes a culture of scientific excellence, effective analytical thinking and innovative problem solving by leading and inspiring a team of managers, toxicologic pathologists and scientific staff to archive maximal scientific and operational effectiveness in supporting Merck’s drug discovery and development efforts.

- Provides thoughtful guidance for the planning and execution of technical and scientific activities and for the discovery, implementation and application of novel cutting-edge scientific approaches that advance the capabilities and effectiveness of the anatomical pathology group.

- Directs themselves and their staff to collaboratively work with stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that maximize scientific and operational effectiveness within SALAR and assure maximal compliance with internal and external expectations and standards including the good laboratory practice (GLP) regulations.

- Passionately promotes career development and actively partners to help others realize their full potential.

- Actively pursues their own career development, publishes their work and expands their leadership and scientific skills, knowledge and influence.

This position also offers the opportunity to lead and actively participate in the drug discovery and development process as non-clinical safety representative to project teams (Compound Leader) and to participate on committees external to Merck that foster the science of veterinary pathology and/or influence regulatory policy to promote more effective and efficient drug development.

The position may include some travel between the sites of West Point, PA and Kenilworth, NJ.
