Job Details

Two research positions are available in sustainable functional materials technology. The first focusses on materials synthesis and characterisation. The second on microstructural and structural characterisation using advanced transmission electron microscopy. The two positions are part of an EPSRC funded initiative on Substitution and Sustainability in Functional Materials and Devices. The aim of each post is to research into the manufacture of functional devices using cost effective sustainable materials and processes. The successful candidate will work in a world leading research group in functional materials and devices.

You will be expected to work as part of a coordinated team and will report directly to the management committee led by Professor Ian M. Reaney every 3 months but will collaborate on a day to day basis with your direct supervisor. You should have experience in processing and fabrication of functional materials devices and/or advanced transmission electron microscopy and have a strong knowledge of structure property relations in functional materials.

You should have completed or be about to complete a PhD in functional materials and devices or in advanced transmission electron microscopy. You will be expected to prepare data, write reports and papers and present your research at major international conferences.
