The School has an active group of academic staff contributing to research and teaching in the fields of atmospheric science, biogeography, environmental management, geomorphology, GIS, hydrology, and remote sensing, and seeks an individual who will help in strengthening its activities in climatology and atmospheric science. The incumbent will be tasked with undergraduate teaching in their field of expertise and related fields within Physical Geography/Environmental Science at all levels using curricula in keeping with modern developments in that field, and will assist in developing discipline-wide postgraduate teaching programmes across the School. In addition to teaching, s/he will be expected to develop and maintain an active research programme that will involve supervision of postgraduate students and attract external funding. S/he will also be expected to be involved in the School administration and outreach activities. This incumbent will report to: The Academic Leader: Geography (PMB).

Minimum Requirements:

  • A MSc in Geography or related field
  • Two years post Masters research experience
  • Current research activity as evidenced by at least one quality publication in ISI/SAPSE-listed journals
  • Demonstrable ability to teach at a tertiary level 
  • The successful candidate will be expected to complete a PhD within 5 years from date of assumption of duty.
