WESTVILLE AND PIETERMARITZBURG CAMPUS

The School of Accounting, Economics and Finance offers the Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting qualifications and wishes to appoint academics who will contribute actively to the training and education of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Auditing, Managerial Accounting & Finance, Financial Accounting and Taxation and to build the knowledge base of the discipline through teaching, research and community engagement. Administration of certain teaching activities within the discipline is also required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (objectively measurable from CV)

Senior Lecturer

• Relevant doctoral degree; and
• A South African Chartered Accountant CA(SA) or equivalent professional qualification; and
• Minimum of three years teaching experience in the discipline at a higher education institution OR a minimum of five years relevant industry experience; and
• Evidence of excellence as a researcher within the discipline; and
• Successful supervision of Masters and/or PhD students.

Lecturer

• A relevant Master’s degree; and
• Experience in teaching within the discipline at a tertiary level.

ADVANTAGES:

• Progress towards a PhD.
• A South African Chartered Accountant CA(SA) or equivalent professional qualification;

Short-listed candidates will be required to make a presentation at the interview. Appointment to this post will be on the January 2012 Conditions of Service.
