Job Purpose

Are you looking to develop your career in a corporate engagement role at a prestigious organisation? The University of Birmingham is one of the most ambitious institutions in the UK and we are determined to be placed in the global top 50, with investment and strategic plans in place to enable us to achieve our objectives. We are looking for talented and passionate individuals to join our Business Engagement (BE) team, to take our already successful corporate partnerships to the next level whilst identifying and growing new opportunities.

Our existing corporate partnerships have had a real impact on our University. They have allowed us to support and further our research enabling our researchers to make crucial breakthroughs, to provide an enhanced student experience through internships, and to offer academic consultancy and professional development for our partners. We now wish to grow our networks and engage further with international, national and regional business in order to double our corporate income.

To support this aim, we are looking for an enthusiastic Business Engagement Officer to offer the Business Engagement Partners some additional support in undertaking projects, organising client meetings and small-scale events, as well as general administration.

This pivotal role is an excellent opportunity for someone with an aptitude for project support, event management and administration to work with innovative businesses, established global companies, start-ups, inventors and academics. You will be pro-active, highly motivated, and detail-orientated, with the ability to work collaboratively with other members of staff to advance the University’s efforts to develop and build relationships. This expanding, friendly and focussed team is a great place for someone looking to carve out a career in Business Development.

Based on the University campus, you’ll enjoy the benefits available to University staff including the USS pension scheme, access to our sporting facilities, and additional holidays at Christmas and Easter. The University is situated on a beautiful 250 acre parkland campus with excellent transport links including our own railway station.

  • A proven ability to work independently and use own initiative to progress tasks.
