The University of Sheffield is committed to the future development of research in the area of Nucleic Acid and Genome Biology hosted within the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. This investment forms part of a greater strategy to build the Biomedical Life Sciences in Sheffield with an emphasis on supporting current areas of strength. We are proud of our outstanding reputation for excellence as exemplified by the REF2014, in which Sheffield came joint 5th in Biological Sciences (out of 44 submissions to UoA 5) and 1st in Allied health Professions/Biomedical Science (out of 94 submissions to UoA 3).

We aim to recruit 3 talented researchers (from Lecturer up to Professor) with an excellent track record and who are keen to discover how nucleic acids and the genome govern cell biology. You will join a dynamic interfaculty grouping of researchers in the newly formed Sheffield Institute for Nucleic Acids (SInFoNiA) with expertise in DNA replication, genome stability, transcription, RNA processing, nuclear export and bioinformatics.

You will have an outstanding research track record for your career stage, and will publish in high quality international journals and attract substantial grant income to further enhance our excellent research profile. You will have a PhD in a relevant subject area (or equivalent experience) with expertise and a track record in cell biology, molecular biology or genetics. You will have experience of securing research income and will have experience of developing and delivering high-quality teaching at a variety of levels.
