As a member of Global Science and Commercialization Technology-Analytical Chemistry in Development and Supply (GSTC-ACDS), you will be responsible for the development, validation and implementation of multivariate models for real-time process monitoring and control of Merck’s small molecule, vaccines’ and biologics’ products. The selected individual will have the opportunity to collaborate with Technical Operations, IT, Quality and other manufacturing groups at multiple sites to make significant contributions towards Merck’s process robustness and consistency goals.


- Lead the development and implementation of multivariate models to support a wide variety of manufacturing processes such as fermentation, cell culture, chromatography, film coating.

- Lead interactions with end-users to understand their needs and to provide training as needed.

- Implement multivariate models in Merck’s platform SIMCA Online.

- Active engagement with IT groups to implement and sustain current installation base.



Ph.D. and no years of experience or a minimum of three years’ experience required with B.S. or M.S. degree in a science related discipline.

Required Experience:

- Expertise in Chemometrics or multivariate data analysis (MVDA).

- Experience using statistical software packages such as SIMCA, Unscrambler.

Preferred Experience:

- Experience developing models in SIMCA (Umetrics) and/or SIMCA Online.

- Experience with in-line, on-line and at-line Process Analytical Technology.

- Pharmaceutical industry experience.

- Experience in analytical method development and validation.

- Applicant should have excellent written and oral communication skills and will be expected to continually draw upon his/her ability to think independently, to solve problems, and to apply innovative scientific approaches.
