The university’s Faculty of Dentistry has been undertaking research and educating dental practitioners for over a hundred years. The faculty offers a rigorous research and training program and produces research scholars of international standing and highly skilled general practice and specialist clinicians.


We are seeking to appoint a number of Associate Lecturers or Lecturers in a variety of areas under the University’s Scholarly Teaching Fellowship (STF) scheme. You will have responsibility for teaching in one of the following disciplines:

 

  • Exodontia and Oral Surgery
  • Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology
  • Radiology
  • Special Care Dentistry
  • Endodontics
  • Tooth Conservation
  • Oral Rehabilitation
  • Periodontology
  • Orthodontics
  • Paediatric Dentistry
  • Population Oral Health
  • Behavioural Sciences and Professional Practice
  • Biomaterials
  • Integrated Life Sciences
  • Oral Health Therapy


You will have tertiary teaching experience and relevant experience in at least one of the above area(s). You will engage with and contribute to faculty learning and teaching activities and processes and, while the role is predominantly teaching, you will have some opportunity to contribute to research.

Under the Fellowship rules you must:

 

 

  • have fixed term and/or casual employment experience totalling at least 12 months in one or more Australian universities over the preceding five years
  • have been awarded or have submitted a PhD qualification in a relevant area or identifying that a PhD is not normally required for appointment in a discipline. We encourage potential applicants to consult with the head of discipline for assistance if you do not have a PhD.
  • not hold, or have previously held, any continuing academic appointment in a university


Other selection criteria include being a registered as a dental practitioner with the Australian Dental Board, having expertise in a proposed discipline with the ability to develop guidelines for pre clinical and clinical units to ensure effective patient care. We also require excellent written and communication skills with the ability to fulfil academic co-ordination/administration role. The faculty also requires experience in teaching through a combination of different learning formats, including lectures, small-group seminars, PBLs.
