Job Details

Project Title: The interplay between a loss of iron homeostasis and inflammation in neurodegeneration.

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position to study the involvement of pathologically relevant proteins such as b-amyloid precursor protein (APP) in the homeostatic regulation of iron within the brain. In animal and culture models, a wide variety of molecular biology and biochemistry techniques are required to elucidate the post-translational changes and cellular trafficking of these proteins that are required for the modulation of intracellular iron. A greater understanding in this iron regulatory pathway within the brain will elucidate how toxic iron accumulation may contribute to inflammation in age-related neuropathology and suggest a range of therapeutic targets in neurodegenerative diseases.
With extensive experience in cell trafficking and membrane protein analysis through molecular biological and biochemical skills as well as an in depth knowledge in oxidative biology and lipid metabolism, you will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with excellent problem solving skills and exceptional technical ability that is willing to join a dynamic research team that is located in well-equipped laboratories.
