An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Student Services Centre as the supervisor of a student facing team.

You will be responsible for supervising all aspects of customer services in our busy Student Services Centre. To ensure the smooth running of our services you will be self-sufficient and able to supervise a customer service team, allocating and prioritising work and monitoring individual progress as well as be able to ensure staff are clear about daily changing work priorities and service expectations.

The Centre is manned from 08:00 to 20:00 Monday to Friday. The post holder will be required to work on a rolling work pattern basis. At peak times of the year some weekend working will be required.

The role involves a great deal of interaction with our students and the successful candidate must have:

·         Excellent communication skills

·         Significant experience of customer service

·         Ability to positively influence teamwork

·         The ability to be able to work alone and within a team

·         An understanding of a university community to relate to the issues which our students may encounter 

·         Experience of supporting and leading on process change and improvement projects working with a range of stakeholders

The successful candidate will also have the ability to motivate, support and develop a team of Customer Service Advisors. Significant experience of working with the Microsoft Office suite and multiple Customer Relationship Management software is essential. To apply for this position you do NOT need to have experience in higher education, what is important is that you can demonstrate solid transferable skills, passion and commitment.

Student Services is one of the largest Professional Services departments in the University. We provide a ‘one stop shop’ providing advice, guidance and information to University of Southampton students, as well as career advice, counselling services, support for disabled students, and help with VISAs and financial issues. Our services also include an Early Years Centre providing a childcare facility for students and staff, our Residences team who manage over 4000 bed spaces in Halls of Residence, and some of the biggest and best leisure facilities in the area.
