The Role

Recent appointments have strengthened our existing profile in international relations and comparative politics. An exciting opportunity exists for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in a research team led by Dr Genevieve LeBaron on a UK Economic and Social Research Council-funded project, Understanding and Governing the Global Business of Forced Labour. The project is developing comparative sector-based analysis of how the business of forced labour operates in global supply chains, as well as the effectiveness of public and private governance mechanisms in combatting it.

Requirements

The project focuses on tea, cocoa, and garment supply chains, The successful applicant will have or be very near to completing a doctoral degree in Politics, Development Studies, Anthropology or related discipline, preferably on a topic of relevance to the research project. Experience of conducting research using qualitative and interview techniques is essential, and experience of using ethnographic techniques is desirable.

The Research Associate will be required to conduct field research in the United States and locations in Asia and Africa.
