The Role

The Senior Research Associate will primarily carry out research related to the bioethical and governance issues associated with surgical innovation and its evaluation. His/her primary task will be to undertake a review of the pertinent international literature surrounding each stage of surgical innovation and its evaluation, exploring the issues pertaining to bioethics and governance. S/he will produce report(s), publication(s) and presentation(s) and will contribute to applications for further funding. S/he will also be expected to make modest contributions (subject to review of progress with the research and commensurate with the post) to teaching and assessment in the School of Social and Community Medicine, and particularly the Centre for Ethics in Medicine.

The Senior Research Associate will work under the supervision of Professor Richard Huxtable, Director of the Centre for Ethics in Medicine. S/he will also have regular contact with Dr Jonathan Ives from that Centre, as well as members of the Bristol Centre for Surgical Research.
