The Role

Many childhood cancers rely on deregulated expression of the MYC-family of oncoproteins, including neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma. This has led to intense interest in the possible therapeutic targeting of proteins such as c-MYC and MYCN.

We are seeking a highly motivated research technician with an interest in novel cancer therapeutics to assist with our project examining pharmacological inhibition of methyltransferases in order to target the MYCN oncoprotein (see Park et al, Molecular Oncology, 2015, 9(3):617-27). This 2-year project is funded by Cancer Research UK, with an anticipated start date in summer 2016.

This project will require advanced cellular and molecular biology approaches, including cell-toxicity assays, proteomics, and transcriptomics. Candidates should have relevant technical expertise and a strong background in biochemistry and molecular biology.

For informal enquires regarding the role, please contact Dr Karim Malik at K.T.A.Malik@bristol.ac.uk.

The closing date for this role is midnight Thursday 21 July 2016.
