Faculty of Science

The Faculty of Science is one of the largest and most diverse faculties within the University of Queensland and within Science Faculties across Australia. It unites the disciplines of agriculture, biological sciences, chemistry, earth sciences, food sciences, geography, marine science, maths and physics, planning, the environment and veterinary science.

The Faculty is managed by the Executive Dean, who has direct responsibility for the physical, financial and human resources, academic matters relating to programs and students, and a range of other areas such as the development of research, national and international marketing, and enhanced government, business and community links.  Information about The Faculty of Science can be found at http://www.uq.edu.au/science 

The Role

The position is responsible for providing financial and business support management for various facilities and centres within the Faculty of Science Finance Office Shared Services.  This includes financial advice and guidance to Centre Managers/Directors and other staff, along with external financial reporting requirements in accordance with funding agreements in addition to other financial functions such as internal financial reporting, analysis and budgeting while meeting UQ financial management requirements in accordance with the University's policies and practices. 

The Person

Applicants should possess a degree in accounting, business or commerce and ideally be CA or CPA qualified, or have an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training. Applicants should also have extensive relevant financial/administrative experience.  A sound knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly gain knowledge of, the University's financial policies and procedures is essential, along with a strong orientation to the provision of quality client service and demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills. Experience and skill in developing processes for the management of budgets, forecast modelling and reporting on will be required.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment until 30 June 2017 at HEW Level 7.  The remuneration package will be in the range of $79,498.69 - $86,950.63 per annum, plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5% (total package in the range of $87,051.07 - $95,210.94).
