Job Details

Details

Focussed on women’s spirituality and the symbol of ‘Goddess’, thealogy is a growing field of study but its potential to make a vital contribution to a postfeminist generation is yet to be explored. Feminists make stringent critiques of glamour modelling, pole dancing, the porno chic of the music industry, dieting and so on, but are not so good at producing alternative, practical, credible options. Visions of a different symbolic order are required and this research project explores how thealogy offers precisely that potentially transformative alternative, founded on the sacrality of the female body.

Funding Notes

There are a limited number of funding opportunities with the College of Arts and Law, however, competition for these scholarships is fierce and only those with the highest credentials are likely to be successful. For more information see:
http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/schools/calgs/scholarships/index.aspx
Enquiries from self-funded students are also welcome.
