Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Inorganic and Materials Chemistry

Applications are invited from excellent candidates with suitable experience and skills for the position of postdoctoral research fellow on an interdisciplinary STFC-supported project concerned with the selective chemical vapour deposition of thermoelectric thin films for production of thermoelectric microgenerators. The project is a collaboration between Professors Gill Reid and Andrew Hector in Chemistry and Professor Kees de Groot and Dr Ruomeng Huang in Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. The successful candidate will be based mainly in Chemistry, and will liaise closely with others in the team to fulfil the project goals. The position is for 24 months, from 1st October 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in synthetic inorganic or materials chemistry. Experience in the main group chemistry, synthesis and spectroscopic characterisation of inorganic compounds, the use of inert atmosphere techniques and/or in the deposition and characterisation (using XRD, SEM, EDX, XPS, etc.) of thin film materials would be advantageous. Excellent written and spoken communication skills and organisational skills are essential.
