Global Technical Operations – Pharm (GTO-Pharm) Shared Services is seeking interested candidates to join its team of technical service experts.

- The successful candidate will be capable of providing strategic technical support for in-line products for pharmaceutical manufacturing sites worldwide. In addition, this position demands application of leadership skills and facilitation of knowledge sharing for optimal process performance across multiple sites.

- This function challenges the individual to drive business analysis as they plan and lead execution of strategic divisional initiatives such as product stewardship, proactive process robustness, knowledge management, quality risk management and similar activities.

- This opportunity offers responsibility for designing and implementing divisional systems utilizing critical thinking, appropriate Six Sigma techniques, and knowledge of Merck’s internal and external pharmaceutical manufacturing network.

- Interested candidate must be able to work independently or as part of a project team, to plan, develop and execute projects. The candidate must be able to work in a matrix organization and provide a boundaryless application of leadership skills to all assignments.

- The candidate must be able to influence and accomplish objectives through other groups that span various organizations in MMD. The individual will represent GTO Pharm in interactions with manufacturing sites, internal committees, and initiative teams.

Qualifications

Education Requirement:

- B.S. or M.S. or Ph,D in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Pharmacy or other related engineering/scientific fields

Required Experience:

- Seven (7) years experience in a technical support role for drug substance or drug product manufacturing or development.

- Two (2) years experience in small molecule, drug product support with demonstrated expertise in one or more related unit operations.

Preferred Experience:

- Strong technical/manufacturing background in pharmaceutical and packaging operations in general and solid dosage in particular, including quality systems and process technology (technology transfer, process & cleaning validation, problem solving)

- Lean tools and systems (LSS green/black belt is a plus)

- Strong project management skills & proven ability to lead and/or manage complex projects.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to participate actively in virtual teams & communicate, collaborate, negotiate & persuade across a broad variety of functions and cultures

- Ability to work independently or in teams.

- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are preferred to manage a broad spectrum of activities/projects.

- Strong communication skills.

- “Out of box" thinking

- Be willing to travel up to 25 % to support technical issues / projects
