Reporting to the Director, Career Education and Coaching and working closely with the Director, Alumni and Corporate Relations, the Senior Career Advisor collaborates in the preparation, development and delivery of career services for students in the Full-Time, Part-Time and FastTrack MBA Programs, as well as in the Executive MBA, Fort McMurray MBA and Master of Financial Management programs.

Duties

  • Advises, counsels, and assists students with the development and implementation of career and work search strategies
  • Coaches and advises students on self assessment, skills identification, occupational options, employment search techniques and labour market trends
  • Works with students on resumes and cover letters
  • Develops and delivers workshops and sessions on career and employment search topics such as work search strategies, career exploration, planning and decision making
  • Conducts mock interviews with students and provides constructive feedback
  • Recommends and plans events to promote MBA alumni, industry and student linkages
  • Manages broad student communications via email, the website and social media
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree, supplemented with continuing education in Human Resources and talent management experience, preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Minimum two years of experience recruiting to professional and leadership positions
  • Three years of experience working with, coaching and advising highly demanding clients
  • Experience in career advising, employment counseling, facilitating workshops and event management
  • Proven ability to develop positive, effective and assertively managed client relationships
  • Computer proficiency using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong customer service orientation, tact, initiative and a positive attitude
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), organization and problem solving skills
