Job Details

You will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team on a project funded by the UK Government to undertake research in engineering of functional materials. Specifically, you will undertake a research project in the development of novel functional textile materials through chemical and/or biochemical treatment of polymers and biomaterials. You will have specific responsibility for providing specialist support and implementing the material characterisation work based on the testing protocol established. You will also provide general support for the teaching and laboratory work within the School of Design.

You will possess demonstrable experience of working in a technical capacity within a science, technology or engineering discipline and it is essential that you hold a BSc or BEng in textile technology, textile chemistry, polymer material science, or textile chemistry related discipline; a PhD or equivalent degree in textile science and technology is preferred. You will also have experience of working both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as is a willingness to work flexibly.

This post falls under the remit of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.  As such, all applicants are required to declare any convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings, including any pending criminal proceedings and those which would otherwise be considered 'spent' under the 1974 Act.
