Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus modulation of host cell pathways: a novel antiviral strategy

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to investigate how the human tumour virus, Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), manipulates RNA modification pathways to enhance its own replication. This Worldwide Cancer Research funded project in the research group of Professor Adrian Whitehouse, will use a range of transcriptomic and proteomic approaches to highlight a novel KSHV-mediated mechanism to regulate viral gene expression. This has the potential to identify a novel target for antiviral intervention for this important human tumour virus.

You should have a PhD (or be close to completion) in Molecular Virology, Cell Biology or a related discipline. Excellent communication skills and evidence of a good publication track record are essential. You will join a highly active research group studying various aspects of human tumour virus biology.

Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Adrian Whitehouse, email a.whitehouse@leeds.ac.uk.

More information about research ongoing in the Whitehouse laboratory can be found at http://www.fbs.leeds.ac.uk/staff/profile.php?tag=Whitehouse_A
