UQ Global Engagement - UQ International

As part of its internationalisation strategy, The University of Queensland has affirmed that its international activities are an integral part of the University's mission and that international outreach in learning, discovery and engagement will continue to grow in all parts of the institution, thereby assisting its students to prepare for a more internationally-oriented future and continuing to build on its staff's participation in and contribution to international research and scholarship.

In support of the University's Global Engagement Strategy, the major functions of UQ International are: 

  • Identification and development of new strategic international initiatives

  • Developing and managing key international partnership arrangements

  • International marketing and promotion, including student recruitment

  • International student administration. 

UQ Global Engagement reports directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) and is responsible for the development and implementation of the University's Global Strategy and enhances the reputation of UQ as a leading global university through the management of international partnerships, programs and projects. The office builds and maintains a network of strategic international relationships and collaborations and provides expert support and advice to stakeholders, with the aim of identifying and prioritizing opportunities that will showcase and extend UQ's research, teaching and learning, and engagement activities. 

The role

Coordinate the development and delivery of the suite of Global Engagement communications that highlight UQ's Global Impact to internal and external stakeholders including:

  • Country and partner engagement briefings, presentations and speeches for Senior Executive meetings with key stakeholders,

  • Media releases that showcase international research initiatives, partnerships and events,

  • News articles to support UQ publications and website content,

  • External communications that raise UQ's profile within strategic countries and international partners ensuring the brand and messaging are consistent with the corporate style and strategy,

  • Global Engagement and Global Strategy websites are kept up to date and reflect the breadth of UQ's Global connections.


The person

Applicants should have a degree in communications/ journalism or a related area with at least four (4) years subsequent relevant experience in public relations/ journalism or an equivalent combination of education/experience. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated expertise in corporate communications, public relations and journalistic writing (news and feature); ability to organise and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail; demonstrated research, writing and editing skills; excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to take initiative and work co-operatively. Experience in the field of higher education is desirable.

Remuneration 

This is a full-time, two year fixed-term appointment at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range $79,498 - $86,950 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $93,013 - $101,732 p.a.).
