The ELP is a six-level university preparatory program designed to provide students with the necessary skills for studying at an English-speaking institution. The program also provides language support to the faculty and staff, as well as the local communities.

The Director will interact primarily with ELP staff, providing operational management of the program. The Director should cultivate academic excellence and motivate continuous improvements to ELP curriculum and achieving goals. The position will involve supervisory feedback and professional development of ELP instructors as well as the hiring and training of new faculty. The position is primarily administrative, but the environment offers abundant opportunities for research, which is encouraged by the university.

The Director is expected to work collaboratively with various academic departments and in accordance with institutional guidelines and the legal requirements of higher education in Ecuador. The ELP is a semi-autonomous unit of the university; the Director reports directly to the Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

- Familiarity with language program assessment and development
- A strong command of English
- Familiarity with Spanish and/or Latin American culture is preferred
- Outstanding professional, intercultural communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to supervise and manage a team of 25+ teachers as well as an ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a team
- Experience with managing and diffusing difficult situations with students
- Ability to provide curricular and pedagogical guidance to ELP faculty
- Knowledge of current best practices in language pedagogy and curriculum development
- Experience in community-based language and/or short-term language programs (preferred)
- Experience in course management software
- Strong word processing and data management skills

Individuals of all races, gender, nationality and language backgrounds are encouraged to apply. For successful non-Ecuadorian applicants, the position requires the purchase a 5-year professional visa. The professional visa requires (depending on passport-issuing country) federal and local background checks, verification of degree, and a valid passport, among other items. This is a full-time twelve-month academic professional position with an automatically renewing contract. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Start date is August 2016, with the availability of an earlier start if possible. Review of applications begins immediately and continues until the position is filled.
