Job Details

At the Department of Molecular Biology there is a vacancy for a temporary position as a staff engineer for a period of 2,5 years with a possible extension. The position is linked to the project "Metabolic hub molecules as key factors in cancer development and prevention"financed by the Norwegian Cancer Society.

The position is associated with the group of professor Mathias Ziegler and is part of the research program ProtMetD (Protein Modifications, Metabolism and Disease). ProtMetD consists of the research groups of Nathalie Reuter, Thomas Arnesen and Mathias Ziegler with a total of 35 staff and students.

 

Work task

  • Cell culture (bacterial and human cells) and relevant analytical procedures such as Western blotting; preparation of extracts and lysates
  • Expression and purification of recombinant proteins
  • Enzyme assays and metabolite analyses

 

Qualifications and qualities

  • The applicant must have a master’s degree in biochemistry/molecular biology. Long, relevant experience combined with relevant continuing education may in special cases compensate for lack of formal education.
  • Competence and experience with relevant analytical instrumentation
  • Experience with molecular biological laboratory work including use of cell biological or protein-chemical methods
  • Practical experience with metabolomic analyses or protein purification are an advantage
  • Work independently and in a structured manner, and have the ability to cooperate with others
  • The applicant must be proficient in oral and written English

 

We can offer

  • A good and professionally challenging working environmentposition as staff engineer (code 1085/pay framework 22). Salary at pay grade 47-52 in the state salary scale according to qualifications. This currently amounts to an annual salary of NOK 409 700 - 443 900. A higher salary may be considered for a particularly well qualified applicant.
