The Research

An exciting opportunity is now available to be involved in a major new international research project focussed on mega projects in Southern cities. You will make an important contribution to a 7 month research project which examines how investment in urban infrastructure in the Global South is transforming cities.

This post will contribute to an SIID funded start-up project and will develop research publications and bids for external follow-up funding that will examine whether massive urban infrastructure projects that orient cities towards new geographies of global production and consumption have the potential to foster equitable and sustainable urbanisation.

The project is led by Dr Glyn Williams and Dr Tom Goodfellow in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning and Dr Seth Schindler (Department of Geography). Previous applicants need not apply.

The Role

You will play a key role in the research process, particularly in relation to planning and delivering external funding applications for research along with working papers and co-authored articles. Alongside research related tasks, your role will involve administrative duties including the collation and synthesising of information, keeping accurate records along with arranging meetings and events.

Requirements:

You will have or be close to completing a PhD in a relevant subject area; have experience of relevant qualitative research methodologies; and have a good track record of successful research writing.
