Job Details
Professors /Assistant Professors/ Lecturers:
Teaching
• To teach undergraduate students and to conduct related assessments using an appropriate range of methods and approaches
• To provide academic support and advice to undergraduate students
• To engage in the evaluation and development of modules and take responsibility in terms of content, delivery and assessment
• To cooperate with colleagues in the continuous review and development of the Department’s taught programmes and curriculum
• To develop proactively a teaching profile that meets the needs of the Department
Research
• To manage research projects and, as appropriate, supervise research students
• To publish the outcomes of research in journals of international standing
• To help set the research agenda for key aspects of research in the subject area
Other Related Activities and Functions
• To engage in training programmes in the University (for example through Staff Development) which are consistent with individual needs and aspirations and those of the Department.
• To carry out specific administrative roles and functions as may reasonably be require.
• To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post
For Professorial positions appointees will be expected to:
• Provide evidence of research publication and income generation.
• Attend and organise international research conferences
• Generate research funding and build a research team or teams
• Mentor junior colleagues
• Represent the Faculty both within the University and externally
Personal Specification
• PhD in a relevant subject specialism preferably from the UK
• Broad general experience in the academic discipline, and preferably recent experience of British Higher Education
• Excellent English writing & speaking skills
• High communication and interpersonal skills
• Advanced computer skills
• Ability to operate in a multi-cultural environment
• Flexible approach and ability to work in teams
• Ability and experience in teaching all degree levels
• Potential for developing and exploring new teaching methods
