Yachay Tech is the new research intensive university inaugurated in March 2014 under the initiative of Ecuadorian government which is devoting intensive efforts to create “Proyecto Yachay” (City of Knowledge project), a Silicon Valley in Ecuador. Yachay Tech has 6 Schools each of which is divided into 2 Departments, one focused more on basic research and the other more on applications. The School of Physical Sciences and Nanotechonology consists of Physics Department and Nanotechonology Department.  Prof. Hisakazu Minakata, formerly from Tokyo Metropolitan University, is the current Head of the Physics Department. 

We are constructing Physics Department in Yachay Tech from scratch and are  recruiting PhD scientists for faculty positions who can have strong initiative in creating active research groups. We are interested in hiring people in accord with the semester schedule which starts in October 2016, but our search will continue in coming 1-2 years. We are interested in a wide variety of disciplines in physics, astrophysics, condensed matter physics, cosmology, nonlinear physics, particle physics, quantum physics, statistical mechanics, both theoretical and experimental. The official language in Yachay Tech is English, and physics courses will be given by the language.
