Research Project: Oxidative Flow Biotransformations

The position is available to research and develop the use of oxidative biocatalysts in continuous flow.  The fellow will join a research project funded by the ACS Green Chemistry Institute® http://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/greenchemistry.html that involves collaboration with scientists from academia and industry.  The fellow will be supervised by Professor John Blacker (School of Chemistry and School of Chemical and Process Engineering and Institute of Process Research and Development), with co-supervisors Professor Nik Kapur (School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Leeds) and Professor Nicholas Turner (School of Chemistry and Centre for Excellence Bio3,  University of Manchester).

You will have, or will have submitted prior to taking up the position, a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry focused around biocatalysis.  Experience in the development, optimisation and validation of biocatalytic methodologies is essential, together with experience in the use of analytical tools to support reaction optimisation programmes   You will also have excellent communication and IT skills.
