76 Resident Advisors positions available in University of Auckland Accommodation.

Applications are invited from individuals who wish to commit themselves to a challenging and rewarding employment opportunity in 2017 as Resident Advisor in our University of Auckland halls and residences. The role is part-time.

Our halls and residences provide a safe, secure and supportive place for students to live and learn while attending the University. Our residences are managed by a professional staff whose key purpose is to ensure the pastoral care and support to the academic efforts of residents. Resident Advisors form a vital part of this team.

Successful applicants will have a high level of academic and personal achievement; they will be responsible, approachable, have a “can do” attitude and reflect the diversity that exists at the University of Auckland.  They will understand the challenges and realities of the role and will support the students in their residence to make their time productive, meaningful and enjoyable. They will nurture the development of both academic achievement/excellence and life skills.  A Resident Advisor is a “people person” with good communication skills who builds a strong sense of community in their residence.

This position requires a high level of commitment and a successful applicant understands that this will be their primary area of employment.  A Resident Advisor is critical to the wellbeing of their residents, having a “good RA” on their floor can make a huge difference to a new student’s University experience.

Applications are invited from students who intend to be enrolled in a full-time course of study at The University of Auckland.  The successful appointees will be required to live in the accommodation allocated to them and fulfil their responsibilities for the full period of their contract which falls beyond the academic year.

You are encouraged to learn more about the position by visiting www.auckland.ac.nz/RA.

IMPORTANT:  Please upload to your application a brief Curriculum Vitae (tailored to the role) listing the contact details for at least two people who are confidential referees for you, and a cover letter that answers the three (3) questions below:

1.    Briefly describe why you want to be an RA, what qualities you think make a successful Resident Advisor and how you reflect these qualities.

2.    As a Resident Advisor, it is important to be a positive role model – academically, emotionally, and socially. How would you demonstrate good leadership and build community on your floor?

3.    Positions are available in our Halls of Residence (hall) and our University Flats and Apartments (residence). Please indicate your preference for a position in a hall or residence; however by choosing both you have a greater opportunity to be selected as an RA.

Applications close: Sunday 31 July 2016
