Job Description:
The selected individual will be part of a collaborative team that is responsible for delivering quality methods to test the activity of protein drugs. The successful candidate will apply knowledge of bioanalytical methods and enzymology concepts to determine the specific activity and kinetic parameters of enzymes using plate- and LC-based platforms with various detection modes such as pulsed amperometric detection, conductivity, and fluorescence. The specific project scope is to develop and implement a kinetic assay with a physiologically relevant substrate (PRS) for drug substance and drug product release and stability testing.
 
Education and Experience:
Candidate must have a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
Furthermore, candidates must have the following experience:
BS with 5+ years of industry experience, or
MS with 3+ years of industry experience, or
PhD with 0-3 years of experience in academia or industry
 
Key Skills and competencies:
The candidate must have a thorough understanding of enzymology concepts and hands-on experience with different bioanalytical methods, including several different separation/detection platforms (e.g., HPLC, IC, spectrophotometry, and fluorimetry). The candidate should be committed to deliver value to the team and the organization and must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. In addition, the candidate must have at least two of the following three skills:
·         Independent experimental design and execution
·         Determination of steady-state enzyme kinetic parameters
·         Microsoft Excel and basic statistics and graphing tools
 
Complexity and Problem Solving:
The candidate will be responsible for performing assays and planning experiments with input from other team members. Meets regularly with team and manager to discuss scientific strategy, troubleshoot assays, and review progress. The candidate will share the responsibility of the team to deliver quality assays to stakeholders within reasonable timelines.
The successful candidate will join a team of scientists with numerous cross-functional interactions, including interactions within Process Development and with stakeholders in Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs, and Research.
