Minimum Requirements:
Professor
- A Doctoral Degree in Emergency Medical Care or equivalent
- At least 5 years lecturing experience at a higher educational institution
- 10-15 research publications
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPSA) as an Emergency Care Practitioner
- Drivers’ license with a valid Public Service Drive’s Permit (PDP)
Associate Professor
- A Doctoral Degree in Emergency Medical Care or Equivalent
- At least 5 years lecturing experience at a higher educational institution
- 8-10 research publications
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Emergency Care Practitioner
- Drivers licence with a valid Public Service Driver’s Permit (PDP)
Senior Lecturer
- A Doctoral Degree in Emergency Medical Care or equivalent
- At least 3-5 years lecturing experience at a higher educational institution
- At least one (1) research publication
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Emergency Care Practitioner
- Drivers licence with a valid Public Service Driver’s Permit (PDP
Lecturer
- A Masters Degree in Emergency Medical Care or equivalent
- At least 1 year lecturing experience at a higher educational institution
- Evidence of research
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Emergency Care Practitioner
- Drivers licence with a valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP)
Addition Recommendations:
- Experience in e-learning
- Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and internet use
- Experience in programme accreditation
- Experience in curriculum development and mixed mode delivery
- Experience in clinical practice in Emergency Medical Care
Summary of Duties:
- Undertake teaching and assessment duties in Emergency Medical Care and Rescue
- Undertake research activities
- Undertake clinical operational duties on the Department’s paramedic vehicle
- Assist with the management of the department’s surgical sundries, capital equipment and vehicles
- Undertake any additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department
- The successful candidate if appointed as a Lecturer, will be required to complete a Doctoral Degree qualification within 5 years of appointment
