Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer

The Department of Sport Studies based within the Faculty of Applied Sciences seeks to appoint a suitably qualified candidate for a Head of Department position (3 year period renewable for 1 more cycle only). The incumbent will serve as a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor / Full Professor specialising in Sport Management / Sport Science / Human Movement Science

Minimum Requirements:

Full Professor

• A relevant PhD in Sport Management / Sport Science / Human Movement
• At least (10) years teaching / professional experience
• Sustained publication track record in international peer reviewed journals
• Evidence of completed postgraduate supervision and leadership of research groups
• Track record of external funding
• Previous experience in a management or business environment
• Experience in collaborating with sport institutes and federations
• A broad understanding of current developments within the sporting sector

Associate Professor

• A relevant PhD in Sport Management / Sport Science / Human Movement Science
• At least (7) years teaching / professional experience
• Evidence of publication track record in peer reviewed journals
• Track record of supervision of postgraduates
• Experience in collaborating with sport institutes and federations
• A broad understanding of current developments within the sporting sector

Senior Lecturer

• A relevant PhD in Sport Management / Sport Science / Human Movement Science
• A minimum of five years (5) lecturing experience
• An appropriate research and publication record, and
• Experience in collaborating with sport institutes and federations
• A broad understanding of current developments within the sporting sector

Lecturer

• A relevant Master’s in Sport Management / Sport Marketing / Sport Science / Human Movement Science
• A minimum of three (3) years lecturing experience
• An appropriate research and publication record, and
• A broad understanding of current developments within the sporting sector

Summary of Duties:

• Perform related administrative and Head of Department duties
• To conduct lectures and assessments of learners
• To demonstrate effective communication skills, strong leadership abilities and excellent management and administrative skills
• The ability to strengthen the department in the delivery of quality teaching and learning
• Experience in curriculum development
• Community engagement with relevant sport projects or organisations
• Collaborate and engage with other Universities and key stakeholders in industry
• Entrepreneurial skills to broaden opportunities of third stream income in the department
• Departmental Quality Monitoring Practices
• Implement and manage tutorial programs
• Experience in E-Learning

Successful candidates must demonstrate evidence of their achievements in these areas.
