We are currently seeking applications for a Scholarly Teaching Fellowship being offered to an early career academic in Composition and Music Technology.

In this role you will engage with and contribute to faculty learning and teaching activities and processes and, while the role is predominantly teaching, the Fellowships allow some opportunity to contribute to research. 

Under the Fellowship rules you must be able to provide verification that you satisfy the following criteria:

  • have fixed term and/or casual employment experience totalling at least 12 months in one or more Australian universities over the preceding five years
  • do not hold, or have previously held, any continuing academic appointment in a university
  • have been awarded or have submitted a PhD or DMA qualification with a focus on Composition and/or combined with music technology

 

Other essential selection criteria are:

  • Recognised success and continuing present and future plans as a practitioner at the highest levels of the relevant discipline(s).
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with a variety of approaches to contemporary compositional practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach both classes and individual students.
  • Ability to supervise honours and postgraduate students.

 

Desirable selection criteria are:

  • Demonstrated competency working in notation-based and non-score-based forms.
  • Knowledge and experience in studio-based practice such as: electroacoustic music composition, sound design, sound recording, digital music production, radiophonic art, computer generated music, interactive media, music for media, multimedia and installations.
  • Complementary expertise in a music area that is not classical composition, such as non-Western-classical music, sound arts, improvisation, cross-disciplinary practices.
  • Experience creating industry links with cultural organisations or companies outside of the academic sector.
