Job Purpose

To contribute to our understanding of the role of Epstein Barr virus in the pathogenesis of EBV-associated gastric carcinoma. The project is funded by the University of Birmingham and focuses on how Epstein Barr drives the development of gastric carcinoma using novel 3D models of gastric mucosa. These cutting-edge models of gastric mucosa provide the most physiological culture system available and will for the first time enable a systematic analysis of the cell types infected by EBV and how infection modifies these cells both at the epigenetic and genetic level.
