We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to provide general project management advice and operational support for the team working on the project: “Pilot RCT of decreased scheduled visits and digitally supported self-examination compared to usual care in people treated for stage 0/I melanoma”. You will provide technical and operational support to the Chief Investigators including preparation of relevant materials in collaboration with team members; perform fundamental aspects of research work; and facilitate the efficient operation of the project. You will actively contribute to research activities, designing research protocols, undertaking core aspects of research work, contributing to the analysis and key findings. You will also contribute to a range of academic publications, presentations and to grant development.

To succeed in securing this role you will have:

  • tertiary qualifications and/or relevant work experience with a PhD or submitted for a PhD in a relevant area
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters
  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
  • accuracy, attention to detail and highly organised; planning, analysis skills together with the ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands
  • numeracy skills together with experience in controlling income/expenditure for reconciliation/budget tracking, and managing invoice payments and purchases for a project
  • experience managing a diverse group of key internal/external stakeholders on large or complex projects and the ability to develop/cultivate productive relationships with industry providers and key users
  • excellent administrative skills, coupled with a general understanding of the project life cycle, project documentation, project standards and methodologies
  • experience in scholarly research including a track record of research publications, presentations and contributing to grant submissions
  • previously experience working in the higher education/tertiary sector or at a complex, multi-faceted organisation (desirable)
  • experience in melanoma research, in particular running a RCT (desirable).
