The discipline of Physics is located within the School of Mathematics and Physics in the Faculty of Science. The Discipline is internationally recognised for its research excellence and hosts a number of first-class research centres. The School of Mathematics and Physics leads the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems and are a node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computing and Communication Technology. The quantum gases research group at the University of Queensland spans both theory and experiment.
The roleThis position is associated with the research grant "Nonequilibrium states of polariton superfluids' awarded to Professor Matthew Davis. The project involves the performance of theoretical research to engineer and study novel nonequilibrium states of polariton-exciton and atomic superfluids. The successful candidate will work with experimental collaborators including the polaritonics research group at the Australian National University, and colleagues at The University of Queensland.
The personApplicants should possess or be in the process of completing a PhD qualification or equivalent in the area of theoretical quantum physics or condensed matter physics and be able to demonstrate their knowledge and capacity for research in theoretical quantum physics. Good written and verbal communicate skills are essential as you will be required to write research reports and work with research teams both within The University of Queensland and in external research environments.

RemunerationThis is a full-time, fixed term appointment for two years (with possible extension subject to funding) at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $62,653 - $84,985 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $73,305 - $99,433 p.a.).
