The Lifelong Learning Centre is concerned with widening participation at the University of Leeds especially in relation to mature learners.  As part of this, the Centre offers a Foundation Degree in Healthcare for Assistant Practitioners and is developing a top-up programme at honours level.  This provision is designed for clinical support workers who are part of the non-registered workforce delivering health and social care in a range of settings.  Integration between academic and professional learning is a key feature of the programme as is support for participants in the acquisition of skills for success in higher education.

We are looking to appoint a part-time tutor who will take responsibility for delivery of a new 20 credit module in Mental Healthcare and Assistant Practitioners that forms part of the second year of the Foundation Degree.  This is a one year fixed term post at 6.68% FTE from 1st August 2016.  Teaching will take place on Monday afternoons from late September 2016 through to April 2017.

Applicants must have a relevant first degree and an understanding of policy, practice and research in the field of mental health.  You should also have experience of teaching adults from diverse backgrounds at an HE level and be able to help students to apply their learning to healthcare settings.
