Job Details

We are seeking a Senior Teaching Associate to cover a period of maternity leave from 28/09/2016 until 28/09/2017. You will be joining a growing Centre, at an exciting time of development and expansion.

The post-holder will work within the Centre for Ethics in Medicine (CEM), in the School of Social and Community Medicine, within the Faculty of Health Sciences. The post has been created to cover Dr Zuzana Deans’ maternity leave, and will primarily cover Dr Deans’ teaching, assessment and related management responsibilities on the MBChB (Medicine) and the intercalated BSc (Hons) in Bioethics. There are two key areas of managerial responsibility:

(1) Leading the Ethics and Law Element in the Year One (MBChB) Human Basis of Medicine Unit.
(2) Assisting Professor Richard Huxtable in directing the intercalated BSc (Hons) in Bioethics.

The post-holder will also teach and assess across these programmes (and others into which CEM has input) and help with plans to develop these. In view of these tasks, the post-holder will need a good knowledge of biomedical ethics and law, and the ability to teach, assess and co-ordinate teaching of these disciplines, particularly at undergraduate level. The post-holder will work under the supervision of Professor Richard Huxtable, Director of the Centre for Ethics in Medicine. S/he will also have regular contact with Dr Jonathan Ives and other colleagues from that Centre.

For informal enquiries please contact Prof Richard Huxtable 0117 331 4512 or via email: r.huxtable@bristol.ac.uk
