The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology, at St John Providence Children Hospital, Detroit, MI is actively recruiting a Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist. This is an employed full time position offering competitive salary and benefits package. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical, interpersonal skills, an expertise in teaching medical students and pediatric residents and clinical research.  The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division cares for children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer, blood disorders, bone marrow failure. The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is an active member of the Institution of Children's Oncology Group. The team manages 18-20 new oncology patients annually.   The team includes 2 full time physicians, 2 oncology nurses, and a CRA. In addition, families at St John Hospital Children's Hospital have the benefit of a full range of pediatric subspecialty support services and staff to guide them through many of the medical, social, emotional and financial issues that come with illness.   Additional onsite services are provided by Healing Art Center, Genetic Counseling, Radiation Oncology, and Social services. 

The outpatient center for Pediatric Hematology oncology is located at Van Elslander Cancer Center, on the campus of St. John Hospital and Medical Center.  The area has been designed as a cityscape. The colors and art provide a hopeful atmosphere that feels like a friendly town – not a clinical treatment center.

St. John Hospital and Medical Center is a 772-bed teaching facility. Children with a wide variety of illnesses and injuries are cared for in the 42-Bed Inpatient Pediatric Unit, 35-Bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and newly expanded 8-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.  The department includes a complete network of more than 40 pediatric subspecialists as well as more than 90 general pediatricians.  The neighborhood of Grosse Pointe is a wonderful place to raise a family and has outstanding schools. The metro Detroit area offers excellent metro park systems, entertainment, dining options, and popular recreation activities. Candidate should be able to obtain a medical license to practice in the State of Michigan and Board Certified in Pediatric Hematology Oncology.
