LECTURER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students;
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research;
  • Academic administration and other duties as determined by the Head of Department;
  • Conducting research at nationally and internationally competitive levels;
  • Participating in the Department’s strategic initiatives relating to teaching and community engagement.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy;
  • Registration with the HPCSA;
  • A proven research and publication track record;
  • Teaching experience at undergraduate level;
  • A valid driver’s licence and transport.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal and mentoring skills;
  • Scientific writing skills.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • Clinical experience in the rehabilitation of spinal cord injuries and other physical conditions;
  • Clinical experience in the training of functional mobility;
  • Experience in the use of the Vona du Toit Model of Creative Ability.

 

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 375 614 to R 497 258 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
