Technology Instructor

The Technology Training Centre (TTC) is a continuing education unit that trains individuals to use their computers and software applications more efficiently.  The TTC is looking for a Technology Instructor/ Coordinator to teach 1-3 day software application courses, create training materials, organize training sessions, and market courses to existing clients while developing relationships with new clients.

Duties

  • Instructs material from approved curriculum and develops daily lesson plans and instructional aids
  • Ensures classrooms are prepared, orderly, and staffed prior to commencement of classes
  • Ensures teaching materials are current, authorized and available for classes; uses discretion during class sessions to include: administration of skills assessments, determination of skill levels and adaption to the specific needs and abilities of the students
  • Provides post-class support to students
  • Maintains knowledge of current industry trends in software applications, monitors market changes and software upgrades
  • Develops and presents ideas and suggestions and improving training classes, systems and sales
  • Collaborates with Learning Solutions Coordinator and Technology Training Officer to create or expand curriculum being offered
  • Advises Learning Solutions Coordinator and Technology Training Officer on potential course ware and curriculum being requested
  • Collaborates with Clients (both internal and external) in order to develop, design, and deliver sessions on detailed topics/theories, sessions on Specific Software Suites and workshop Sessions on using Software/Applications
  • Offers support to client via phone or email on topics covered in past sessions
  • Consults on customized training for specific software and applications; offers consultation services on how and when to implement software.


Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in Education, CASE program or an Adult Education Certificate
  • Five years experience including instructing computer applications in an adult learning environment
  • Three years experience developing curriculum and marketing and developing learning plans
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher and OneNote
  • Experience in Alfresco, Adobe Connect, Sitecore, and Google apps
  • Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Creative Suite skills would be an asset
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills


Note:  Skill tests will be administered at the time of the interview and samples of course development and corresponding materials will also be requested
