The Finance Committee is a committee of the University of Bristol’s Board of Trustees, and is responsible for monitoring and reviewing the University’s financial arrangements and performance.  All members of the Committee are expected to play an appropriate part in ensuring that the business of the Committee is carried out efficiently, effectively, and in a manner appropriate to the proper conduct of public business.

 

The Finance Committee is seeking additional member(s) with wide experience of financial risk assessment and financial management within a large complex organisation, with particular knowledge of:

 

  • financial management/issues of pension schemes (particularly defined benefit) including actuarial matters, investment strategy etc.
  • The management of charitable endowments including investment strategy.

 

We would expect members of the Committee to:

 

  • Attend Committee meetings regularly.
  • Make rational and constructive contributions to the Committee’s debate.
  • Make their knowledge and expertise available to the Committee as the opportunity arises
  • Attend training as required to carry out their role (the University provides an induction for all new Committee members).

 

The Finance Committee usually meets six or seven times per year, although extraordinary meetings may be convened to deal with specific decisions or issues. Meetings are usually held on a Wednesday afternoon at 14:00.

  • 28 June 2017, 14:00.

 

The Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees[1] is the governing body of the University. Members of the Board of Trustees are charity trustees and accept ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of the University by ensuring that it is solvent, well-run and delivering the charitable outcomes for the benefit of the public for which it was established.
