Job Description

Objective of the job

The Events Coordinator is responsible for the development, successful execution and evaluation of events that contribute to the UM and faculty Marketing & Communications strategic goals and targets. Examples are the Bachelor and Master Open Day or graduation ceremonies. Most activities are related to the areas of student recruitment, internal communications, alumni and student life. Within the department there are two event coordinators reporting to the faculty head of M&C. Some of the tasks are:

  • Advising and assisting the faculty head of M&C and the student recruitment advisors in the organisation, execution and follow-up of events on behalf of the faculty. There is also a close link to the universities Events manager with regards to organisation of university wide events. 

  • Planning and management of the execution of events on behalf of the faculty (e.g., registration, timing/programme, managing external suppliers, coordinating event personnel).

  • Co-development of communication plans for promoting those events.

  • Development of content (text, photo, video, etc.) for on and offline materials to promote events or to be used during events.


Requirements

What do we expect?

  • A minimum education level of HBO in a relevant field, for example in hotel management.

  • At least two years experience in the field of event coördination

  • Planning and organising skills (at least two years experience in event related postitions).

  • Stress-resistant and a hands on approach.

  • Flexibility; several events are in the weekend or in the evening.

  • Inventiveness and an eye for detail.

  • Commitment to the client.

  • Fluent in English and Dutch, both in writing and speaking.


Conditions

The terms of employment of Maastricht University are set out in the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (CAO). Furthermore, local UM provisions also apply. For more information look at the website www.maastrichtuniversity.nl > Support > UM employees.

The gross monthly salary in this 0.7 fte appointment will depend on education and relevant working experience, based on salary scale 7 of the CAO (UFO profile Communications Officer, level 3).

Employment: Temporary, 1 year with a possible extension

Department

Marketing & Communications

The M&C department develops and carries out M&C activities in keeping with the objectives  formulated for undergraduate, graduate and executive education as well as research conducted under the auspices of the various departments and institutes and the Graduate School of Business and Economics (GSBE).

The Marketing & Communications (M&C) team within the school consists of 7 persons, of which two are responsible for the coordination of M&C events. There is a close cooperation with the shared Marketing & Communications department and other departments within the faculty. The M&C department is in the last fase of an organisation wide reorganisation of the M&C departments, which has resulted in the vacancy of an Events coordinator.
