Job Purpose To provide secretarial, organisational and administration support to the delivery of Healthcare Technology Research Institute, and it’s Director. The institute will provide a focal point for Healthcare Technology research across the University of Birmingham campus and will also provide a level of assistance to Healthcare tech researchers and companies across the region.
The post will support the Institute Director, associated staff and liaise with other partners, academics and funding agencies. Person Specification • Good general education, to GCSE ‘A’ Level, or equivalent professional experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with confidence and discretion with wide range of people at all levels including staff, internal and other external contacts and present in a professional manner
• Excellent IT skills, especially in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and emails. The post holder should also be confident and willing to quickly learn new software packages.
• Good team working skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Flexibility to take a wide variety of task as necessary.
• Ability to prioritises and handle many competing demands.
• Good office management skills.
• Ability and confidence to identify potential problems, propose solutions and make decision on own initiative.
• Experience of preparing and controlling budgets for conferences, events and external meetings.
• A good understanding of the University financial procedure.
• The Ability to take accurate notes is essential; possession of shorthand skill is desirable.
• Previous experience of working in Higher Education is desirable.
• Significant experience in a PA/Office Manager role.
• RSA II typewriting /word processing is desirable.
