The Centre for Coal Seam Gas is a research and postgraduate education organisation, located at St Lucia in Brisbane on the main University of Queensland campus.  It was established in 2011 to address research issues related to the development of the coal seam gas industry. 

The mission of the CCSG is to deliver world-class, stakeholder-focussed research, education, and technical services for the benefit of industry, government, and the wider community.  The Centre features professorial appointments addressing extraction of coal seam gas, geosciences, water use and impacts, and social performance. 

The role

The successful appointee will work on a range of CCSG funded research projects, assisting in the development of descriptive and perspective data analytics solutions for (i) drilling performance, (ii) completion and inflow performance, (iii) PCP and other pump reliability.  They will contribure to the identification of priority research needs associated with the CSG industry and the development of comprehensive, integrated research programs. 

The person

The successful applicant should hold a Master's degree in petroleum engineering and have a detailed understanding of technical aspects of Coal Seam Gas developments as well as economic and cost drivers.  You should have experience in optimisation analytics for drilling performance and experience in designing and conducting research or related data gathering processes.  You should also have the ability to work collaboratively and productively, communicate effectively with research and industry partners and have demonstrated ability to manage a program of work to meet milestones.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months at Research Academic level A inc 01. The remuneration package will be $62,653 per annum, plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5% (total package will be $68,605 p.a.).
