Senior Lecturer/Lecturer

The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science offers both undergraduate and postgraduate training in Statistics, Actuarial Science and Financial Risk Management.  Members of the Department are also actively engaged in research and consulting in these fields. A position at the Senior Lecturer or Lecturer level is available in the Department.

Senior Lektoraat

• Die onderrig en ontwikkeling van voor- en nagraadse kursusse in Statistiek en Wiskundige Statistiek in die Departement;
• Deelname aan en die neem van leiding in die Departement se navorsingsaktiwiteite;
• Studieleiding aan nagraadse studente.

Lektoraat

• Die onderrig en ontwikkeling van voorgraadse kursusse in Statistiek en Wiskundige Statistiek in die Departement;
• Deelname aan die Departement se navorsingsaktiwiteite;
• Verskaf studieleiding aan Honneurs-studente.

• Participating in and taking a leadership role in the Department's research activities;

• Participating in the Department's research activities;
• Providing supervision to Honours students.

• 'n PhD in Wiskundige Statistiek;
• Vermoë om op voor- en nagraadse vlak in Statistiek en/of Wiskundige Statistiek te doseer;
• Vermoë om voor- en nagraadse modules in Statistiek en/of Wiskundige Statistiek te ontwikkel;
• Navorsingsuitsette ten opsigte van Statistiek en/of Wiskundige Statistiek in geakkrediteerde vakkundige joernale en die vermoë om onafhanklik `n betekenisvolle  navorsingsprofiel op te bou;
• Die vermoë om effektief in 'n meertalige omgewing, waar Afrikaans en Engels die dominante tale is, te funksioneer.

Lektoraat

• 'n Meestersgraad in Wiskundige Statistiek of Statistiek;
• Vermoë om op voorgraadse vlak in Statistiek en/of Wiskundige Statistiek te doseer;
• Vermoë om voorgraadse modules in Statistiek en/of  Wiskundige Statistiek te ontwikkel;
• Betekenisvolle vordering in voorbereiding vir `n PhD in Statistiek of Wiskundige Statistiek;
• Die vermoë om effektief in 'n meertalige omgewing, waar Afrikaans en Engels die dominante tale is, te funksioneer.

Senior Lecturer

• A PhD in Mathematical Statistics;
• Proven experience with teaching Statistics and/or Mathematical Statistics at under- and postgraduate level;
• Proven experience with the development of under- and postgraduate modules in Statistics and/or Mathematical Statistics;
• Research output with respect to Statistics and/or Mathematical Statistics in accredited scientific journals and the ability to independently build a significant research profile;
• The ability to function effectively in a multilingual environment where Afrikaans and English are the dominant languages.

Lecturer

• A Master's degree in Mathematical Statistics or Statistics;
• Ability to teach Statistics and/or Mathematical Statistics at undergraduate level;
• Ability to develop undergraduate modules in Statistics and/or Mathematical Statistics;
• Significant progress in preparation for PhD in Statistics or Mathematical Statistics;
• The ability to function effectively in a multilingual environment where Afrikaans and English are the dominant languages.
