Applications are invited for the position of Senior Support Specialist for Research Computing.  The role is a key part of the Advanced Computing Research Centre (ACRC), one of the UK’s leading University High Performance Computing (HPC) and Research Data Storage Facilities.

Key aspects of the role are to work collaboratively with the University’s leading-edge computational researchers providing solutions and expertise across a wide range of computational problems.  This is a senior role within the ACRC and so also be expected to mentor and develop more junior members of the team.

You will be expected to have demonstrable experience of research computing gained in an academic or service oriented context.  This will include expert knowledge of code porting, debugging and optimisation.  You will be expert in several programming and scripting languages, and associated tools, such as version control and build systems, for example.  It is highly desirable that you will have experience of working in an HPC environment and will be knowledgeable about parallel programming and batch environments.  Ideally, you will have experience of delivering training on these topics and mentoring of junior team members.

You will work on many different projects and with a many different people.  Therefore good communication skills and the ability to quickly grasp the goals and methods of a given research project will be highly advantageous.
